1. Detect the small capacitance below 10pF: because the fixed capacitor capacity below 10pF is too small, using a multimeter to measure, can only qualitatively check whether there is leakage, internal short circuit or breakdown. When measuring, a multimeter R× 10k block can be selected, and two pens can be used to connect the two pins of the capacitor arbitrarily, and the resistance value should be infinite. If the measured resistance (pointer swing to the right) is zero, then the capacitor leakage damage or internal breakdown.
2. Detection of 10PF ~ 001μF fixed capacitor: by judging whether there is a charging phenomenon, and then judge its quality. The multimeter selects R× 1k block. The beta value of the two transistors is above 100, and the penetration current is small. Optional 3DG6 and other types of silicon triode composite tube. The red and black pens of the multimeter are respectively connected to the emitter e and collector c of the composite tube. Due to the amplification of the compound triode, the charging and discharging process of the measured capacitor is amplified, so that the multimeter pointer swing amplitude is increased, so as to facilitate observation. It should be noted that: in the test operation, especially in the measurement of small capacity of the capacitor, to repeatedly change the measured capacitor pin contact A, B two points, in order to clearly see the multimeter pointer swing. For a fixed capacitor above 001μF, the R× 10k gear of the multimeter can be used to directly test whether the capacitor has a charging process and whether there is an internal short circuit or leakage, and the capacity of the capacitor can be estimated according to the amplitude of the pointer swinging to the right.
